If the incision isn’t healed though, that might be a problem underwater…

Followers, thoughts?

While it’s healing you should should keep the incision out of water. Wait till the stitches are out. But other than that I don’t see why you would be able to swim under water. I’ve also never have/had a problem with it.

yeah, definitely wait for the stitches to heal; but other than that, you should be all good. I’ve had a shunt my whole life, and never had a major problem with swimming underwater.

I had an intracranial shunt put in when I had my ETV done.  I avoided getting my head too wet (like, apart from showering) for three or four weeks afterwards, but that might have been just a little excessive…

No swimming/submerging of the incision site until it’s healed.

From memory of mine it was not until the staples/stitches came out :)

So far for me it's been true. *knock on wood* but I just wanted to share this because that's one but of information that kept me going when I wanted to give up. Have a good day. ☺️

I’ve never heard that… anyone else?

That’s interesting..I know several people who’ve had adult revisions. Wonder where he got his information? :/

my dad insists my friend never had hydrocephalus because his ears didn’t hurt.

guess he had brian surgery for no reason

haha.

Oh geez.

My ears rarely hurt. . I don’t even think that’s a symptom. Gotta love misinformation. :\

My dad is just an idiot who thinks he knows everything

It happens. :)

Ok I’m going to try and complete this!! Haha let’s see how this goes…
Day 1- Hi👋 my name is Carli, I’m 16, and I have #hydrocephalus which is an incurable brain condition where CSF can’t drain from your brain and absorb into your body by itself due to some kind of obstruction or abnormality. My type of hydrocephalus is aqueductal stenosis. I was diagnosed at 5 months old and had a #shunt put in to drain the excess fluid, to date I’ve had 56 brain surgeries; I currently have a VA shunt which drains from my brain to my heart; unfortunately I will probably need more in the future unless we FIND A CURE, a shunt is NOT a cure!!!!
**Please follow my blog as I spread awareness about #hydrocephalus , meet new friends and tell my story! 💕😊

I have never seen this challenge before, (and I hope you don’t mind my sharing!) but I thought i’d share- I know several people who blog about their condition follow me.
